I no longer have to drive down to Derby to shop at an Aldi or hit every light driving up Rock Road and then on 21st to get some groceries at the Aldi there.

Opening on May 7th, the new Aldi in the Eastgate Shopping Center on Kellogg is truly appreciated by Aldi fans like me and what a great store!

Aldi does their homework when it comes to store design and location.  With each new opening, it’s a better store.  They’re not content to just generically slap up stores in a neighborhood with ‘enough’ shopper volume.  With each new store they make advancements in design, layout and stock storage, while maintaining all the core store elements that has contributed to Aldi success over the years.

The Aldi store located on East 21st Street can be considered a core model store if you will, where after grabbing a cart the first thing you see when entering the store are chips, snacks and breakfast items on shelves that obscure a full store view.  The produce section is located more towards the middle of the store, as are the breads.  With this older model of store, you don’t get a real good visual of where other items on your shopping list are located.  So for first time or infrequent Aldi shoppers, you spend a bit of time hunting and searching for what might be on your shopping list.  For even experienced Aldi shoppers, than can often mean times where you find yourself circling back around, hitting an isle you’ve already been to, to get an item.  When Aldi opened up their store in Derby a few years back, they changed a few things.  Shoppers are still greeted by chips and snacks as they walk in, but the overall store visual was much better, not as tall shelves, or perhaps just not stacked quite as high and within eye shot in that same chip & snack section, you see the breads and produce.  With this latest store opening, Aldi REALLY opened things up, putting produce right up front as you walk in the store and utilizing low profile shelving and bins to display it.  Now those first time and/or infrequent shoppers can quickly get a visual of the entire store, meaning far less hunting and searching for items, even for regular shoppers.  It’s a much smarter layout by Aldi, an improved shopping experience.

Aldi continues to up its game with product quality too.   They have a large variety of meats, cheeses, take and bake pizzas, breads and snack goodies that rival anything Dillon’s put on shelves and you’ll pay FAR less for it too.  I have no problem putting Aldi products on my table for dinner guests and parties, the quality is there and the price is right!   It’s all just as good as the “Name Brand” stuff.

The new Aldi store is located at:

8011 E Kellogg Dr, Wichita, KS 67207

It’s worth a visit, and if you’re not an Aldi regular, you’ll become one!

The new Aldi store gets 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars!
