Can a guy live on just appetizers alone? I’m going to find out. Over the next couple weeks, I’m preparing, eating and, ‘surviving’ on appetizers alone.
Tonight for dinner, I decided to fry up some tempura battered shrimp. After all, fried food and a cold beer is satisfying right?
I threw together a quick, seasoned, tempura batter using all-purpose flour, a little corn starch, Old Bay, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper and ice cold water. I stirred things together until getting a pancake batter type consistency.
Enter, a dozen shrimp. Covering them completely in the batter, I then fried them until they got golden brown delicious.
Did they fill me up? Yes, well, for awhile anyway. The shrimp and glass of beer held me through the Mayweather vs. McGregor pre-fight hype, but then I got teased by a Pizza Hut commercial. I was tempted, but didn’t go through with it.
This meal cost me about $6 to prepare, a bit on the high end of the Bachelor on the Cheap budget for a dinner made at home.
