No, it’s not a bad April Fools joke.

The Sprouts Farmers Market on East Central (the corner of Central and Rock) in Wichita is closing.

“Choosing to close a store is always a difficult decision; however, as we continue to evolve our strategy in selecting store locations, we are focused on ensuring we operate consistently, and while it is infrequent, we sometimes find that the sales volume of a store does not support continued operation,” said Dan Croce, senior vice president of store operations in an e-mailed statement.

Opening in a brand new 30,000 square foot building at 7728 E. Central in early 2017, the store featured produce as well as a lot of natural and organic items.

On a personal note, I really like this store because of the way it is laid out.  The first time I walked in the store I was very impressed, not because it was new, but because I could see the entire store, every department, right when I walked in.

And their meat and cheese selections – top notch!

The store will be missed.

The store will remain open daily from 7 am-10 pm. until it closes, April 1.
