An on the go kind of breakfast…
By Mike Thayer
I’m a regular QuikTrip customer, stopping in for the occasional fountain drink, cup of coffee and/or a bag of chips, perhaps a bag of ice when hosting a party. But until recently I wasn’t really a fan of QT Kitchens food. During a road trip a few years back I was unimpressed by QT’s breakfast sandwiches, with what I purchased being small, luke warm and a barely palatable hard-edged biscuit. After that experience I didn’t give QT Kitchens a second look until I purchased a $20 coupon card in September with a lot of food deals to choose from.
QT Kitchens has upped their game, they crank out better food than they did not so long ago.
Nice, big biscuit, sausage & egg peeping out on the edges.
Hitting their coffee bar on a nice fall morning, I served myself up a small coffee with hazelnut creamer, I then perused the breakfast options at the kitchen. I went with a sausage, egg & cheese biscuit.
Fearing a repeat of my road trip experience, I couldn’t have been more wrong. My biscuit was pretty darn good! It’s a bigger biscuit than what I experienced a few years back and it was dense and hard enough to resole your shoe with. No, this biscuit was light, fluffy, flaky. The sausage had a nice little spice to it, the egg was good sized and seasoned, not bland. The protein to biscuit ratio was excellent with the meat and egg actually protruding a bit from the outer edge of the biscuit. The cheese complimented all the other flavors and I guess my only real knock on this breakfast biscuit is there wasn’t enough of that cheese.
Biscuit was nice and fluffy, sausage & egg were good, but not enough cheese…
Not costing me anything thanks to my coupon card, but available for $2.99, I’m giving the QT Kitchens Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit 4 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars. It was pretty tasty, exceeding expectations. Reasonably priced, good sized and satisfying, it rivals anything fast food and is worthy of a repeat buy.
