Of all the cuisines out there, French; Italian; Greek; Cajun; Tex-Mex; Fusion; etc., I have to say that oriental cuisines are my favorite and my default go-to in my own kitchen.  Chinese, Thai, Korean, Japanese, heck, the entire Pacific rim from Sweet & Sour Pork to Pho to Sushi – it’s all good!

My favorite of all that though, is the egg roll….. Chopped or shredded meat, carrots, celery, cabbage and spices wrapped in a blanket of wheat pasta and fried until it’s golden, brown and delicious.  Historically, the egg roll is said to have been invented in a Chinese-American restaurant in New York City in the 1930’s, a spin off the traditional spring roll.  They can be a real pain in the butt to make and make well.  That’s why I let somebody else make them for me!  All I have to do is heat up some oil.

Enter Minh Egg Rolls

These things ROCK, delivering on taste and convenience.  The ingredient portions are spot on and they are easy to prepare.  Fresh out of YOUR kitchen whether fried or baked these are better than the under-the-heat-lamp or from-the-warming-bin egg rolls you get at many oriental restaurant take-out joints.  Panda Express anyone?

I bought a Minh 20 pack box of pork egg rolls from Costco for about $9, that’s just 45 cents an egg roll!  They’re good sized egg rolls at three ounces each, come in a variety of flavors, pork; chicken; vegetable; shrimp and they even have southwest and cheeseburger egg rolls.

I love these because it’s the ultimate oriental side dish and pairs well with just about any sauce, soy; Terriyaki; plum; spicy/sweet chili sauce, etc….  Having these at the ready means I can concentrate on whatever I’m preparing for the main dish, like General Tso’s Chicken.
