Some typical sloppy fast food prep

Announcing a new line of what they call Signature Stackburgers in late March, Dairy Queen has five Stackburger options on their updated menu.

Offering big flavor and premium ingredients, each cheeseburger is made with 100-percent seasoned real beef, served on a soft and toasted bun with a wide array of toppings. Available as one-third pound doubles and one-half pound triples, I’ve been looking forward to trying these burgers and tonight for dinner I’m starting things off by sampling the Loaded A-1 Signature Stackburger.

Here’s the description from the DQ website:  A Signature StackburgerTM with two 100% seasoned real beef patties, topped with A.1.® Thick & Hearty Steak Sauce, creamy peppercorn sauce, Applewood smoked bacon, perfectly melted Sharp American** and crunchy onion rings. Served on a soft and toasted bun.

This is a stacked burger, you do have to open up a bit wider to get everything in one bite and it’s a good, but not great bite.  The burger patties were a bit over cooked, on the dry side and under seasoned.  The onion rings provided a great crunch, a nice texture element, the A-1 sauce is always a welcome addition to any burger but combined with that peppercorn sauce really kicks things up a notch.  The sauces are a great 1-2 flavor combo with that creamy peppercorn goodness providing just a little bit of heat.   The Applewood smoked bacon was crispy, the melted cheese was spot on and keeping everything together is that soft, toasted bun, a bun that holds up nicely to all those flavors going on.  Sadly, the sauces carry the burger with those patties being over cooked and a bit dry.

Costing me $9.77 for a combo meal to include fries and a drink, I’m giving the Dairy Queen Loaded A-1 Signature Stackburger 4 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars.  Reasonably priced and flavorful, it’s a pity the patties weren’t better prepared.  This is a burger worthy of a repeat buy and I look forward to trying the other Signature Stackburger flavors.
