Olive oil, it adds another layer of flavor to your food and it’s healthier than other oils. A lot of folks buy olive oil for the taste factor alone, but a big bonus to using it is its heart healthy qualities.
So now that you’ve had a quick lesson in olive oil, what you buy comes down to your preferences for taste, health and value.
Carlini Olive Oil is a discount brand available at Aldi. Carlini makes a full line of oils and cooking sprays, from neutral corn and canola oils to extra virgin olive oil.
The “regular” Carlini Olive Oil is my go-to olive oil for everyday, all purpose cooking. It’s got the olive notes and an almost buttery element to it, making it a solid cooking oil choice when you want to elevate the flavor profile of whatever you might be sauteing, frying, grilling or marinading. It’s even a nice add in savory baking rather than using a neutral oil like canola. I wouldn’t use it in baking anything sweet though, the olive flavor, even though mild, doesn’t go well with sweets.
Costing me $2.85 for a 16.9 ounce bottle, I’m giving Carlini Olive Oil 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars. It enhances whatever dish you are preparing it with, meeting, no exceeding my preferences for taste, health and value in an olive oil. It is and will continue to be a repeat buy. In a cost comparison, a 16.9 ounce bottle of Kroger Olive Oil will cost you $4.99. I’ve cooked with the Kroger brand before and I’d rather cook with Carlini, which edges out Kroger in terms of taste and when it comes to value – it’s a savings of $2.14! No that’s Bachelor on the Cheap wallet friendly!
