It was a Friday night, a date night, a first date no less!
My date and I decided to meet at the Redrock Canyon Grill at Bradley Fair.
The place was busy, to be expected on a Friday night at 7pm, so after putting in my name at the front – a 30 minute wait for a table we were told – we had a seat at the bar.
We ordered a couple beers and along with the small talk, the 30 minutes to be seated at our table passed rather quickly. We could have been seated even sooner, but I missed the first couple alerts to be seated! Instead of using those hand-out gizmos with the flashing red lights, Redrock Canyon Grill texts you directly on your cell phone. A novel idea since most everyone these days seems to be addicted to their cell phone, but when it comes to an old-fashioned guy like me who wanted to focus on his date rather than his phone, I missed the first couple of texts saying our table was ready. The flashing red lights gizmo would have been a better alert.
Hearing that this place is known for its Rotisserie Chicken but also craving some greens, I ordered the Texas Chop House Rotisserie Chicken salad. My date ordered the same, but went with the Prime Skirt Steak instead of the chicken.
The Chop House Salad is served with Iceberg lettuce, black beans, tomatoes, jicama, sweet corn and topped with an assortment of corn tortilla strips, monterey jack cheese, chipotle blue cheese dressing, a whole avacado and barbecue sauce.
It didn’t take long at all for our dinners to arrive. These salads were HUGE, portions very generous and all the ingredients nice and fresh. The combination of the chipotle blue cheese and the barbecue sauce was perfect and that creamy avocado helped make the dish. The chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and tender with each bite, but sadly, it was under-seasoned. It was like whoever prepared my salad was relying on all the rest of the flavors in the salad to carry the day. The chicken, was NOT the star of the dish and that was rather disappointing. I had a sample of my date’s steak, and it was a MUCH better bite! She had the better Chop House Salad, as the steak was indeed the star!
Overall, the service was great, the atmosphere very nice, the wait totally to be expected for a quality restaurant and the food was good but to repeat, the Rotisserie Chicken came up a little bit short – under-seasoned. The price tag for the two dinners and a few beers to enjoy them with was $46.
