Hands down, this place rocks Middle Eastern Cuisine. The Hummus is the best in town and so is the Chicken Shawarma. Oh, and there is no better pita.
I took my family to N & J on Friday night, it was very busy, but we got seated and served our drinks right away along with two baskets of pita chips and bread.
My oldest son Daniel ordered the Chicken Shawarma and a double order of Hummus (yes, you guessed it, he REALLY likes good hummus!). My twin sons John & Drew went for the Beef Shawarma, one choosing sides of Tabouli and Hummus, the other opting for rice. The boy’s mother Filiz ordered the same as I, Chicken Shawarma, but I went for sides of Tabouli and Hummus while she did Hummus and Baba Ghanouj.
It got real quiet at the table after the meals were presented and served, all chewing, no talking…….. Yes, it was all that good!
OK, full disclosure moment…. My now ex-wife Filiz worked at N & J as a waitress back in 1993 – 1994 and I even worked there for a bit making pita bread back in the day. But that’s a testament to how good this place is, this place is time-tested, cranking out the best Middle Eastern cuisine in town for DECADES. That’s not bias, it’s just the flat out truth. And if you don’t believe me, then why was the place slamming on a Friday night, June 24, 2016? Because yes, the food is THAT good. I’m a repeat customer and everything on the menu is delicious. When craving Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food, this is where you need to go.
The food, the service, the family-friendly atmosphere, the conversation, it’s all top notch at N & J. This place is a MUST stop if you live in or visit the Wichita area. And after you dine, you can shop in their on-site grocery as well as pick up some of their fantastic pita bread, cookies or other baked goods to take home!
