Bacon Cheeseburger
BachelorontheCheap.com
A lot of burger joints in the Wichita Metro claim to have the best burger around, but who really does? For all the nuances involved in the crafting of not just a good, but a great burger, the bite that really matters is all about the beef!
Bill’s Charcoal Grill is one of those places that delivers on what really matters.
The restaurant proudly states the following on its website:
Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s not trash talk, it’s the real deal!

Bacon Cheeseburger & Sweet Potato Fries
Bill’s Charcoal Grill was my Top Pick for Best Burger Joint in the Bachelor on the Cheap Best in the Wichita Metro Burger Challenge – 2022. Bill’s scored 60 out of a possible 63 points on the Burger spreadsheet, the top score of the Challenge, narrowly beating out other great burger joints such as Fizz Burgers & Bottles, and Buster’s Burger Joint.
After learning my girlfriend Jennifer had never been to Bill’s, we made it a Thursday Date Night Burger Night.
We both appreciate the ‘burger purest’ simplicity of a straightforward cheeseburger, each of us ordering a single cheeseburger with a bacon add. Jennifer opted for the sweet potato fries side, I went with the onion rings. Burgers are made to order at Bill’s, so after pouring our drinks and finding a table, we were teased by the aromas emanating from the kitchen.
I like how Bill’s serves up their burgers, with neatly packaged toppings and condiments. It allows you to assemble your burger as you see fit. You get lettuce, tomato, and onion in a little packet, pickles in a little capped plastic cup, and in yet another little packet you get condiments and napkins.

Bacon Cheeseburger & less than generous portion of onion rings
In my book, Bill’s still has the best char-grilled burger in town. You get those smoky char notes from the perfectly seasoned beef, followed by the compliment of the bacon and the melted cheese. The veggies were fresh, provided great added flavor and coverage, and the bun had a nice toast. The patty was thick and juicy, a big mouthful of burger even as a single.
Jennifer’s sweet potato fries were quite good, but I was a little disappointed in the onion rings. This was the first time I’ve tried them at Bill’s. They are a battered onion ring rather than breaded, which I prefer and they were good, but not great and the portion wasn’t all that generous. Harry’s Uptown makes a much better onion ring and isn’t shy on the serving size.

Costing $27.12 for two bacon cheeseburgers, sides, and drinks, Bill’s isn’t the cheapest local burger joint, but the char-grilled flavor of their burgers makes it very much worth it. Located at 2957 N Arkansas, Wichita, KS 67204, the service at Bill’s Charcoal Grill was courteous and the burgers are repeat-buy worthy!
