New laws allow liquor stores to become full service, one-stop shops
WICHITA — The new liquor laws take effect April 1 in Kansas, allowing grocery stores to sell stronger beer and liquor stores now able to sell mixers, soda and snacks.
The old laws prohibit grocers like Dillions and convenience stores such as QuikTrip from selling beer with more than 3.2 percent alcohol content. Effective April 1, such stores will be able to offer stronger beer, up to 6 percent alcohol content.
Under the new laws, liquor stores will now be able to sell products like mixers, sodas, lemon, lime, olives and snacks.
Welcome to the 21st century Kansas, buyers of adult beverages will no longer have to make an additional trip to another store to buy all items needed to properly stock the home bar.
