We transformed a run down gas station building into a market space for local bakers and community members alike. The COOP (pronounced like chicken coop) is a place where bakers, baristas, foodies, coffee lovers, health nuts, and the community can join forces to bring opportunity and improve accessibility of locally made products. Members bring in products to sell goods and all members split the expenses of the space. The Coffee House team manages the transactions and daily operations of The COOP.You can find plenty of gluten free, keto/diabetic friendly, and vegan options along with the traditional treats. With 20+ bakers we’re able to fulfill custom orders for cakes, cupcakes, pies, cookies, cake pops, and more. Aside from coffee and treats, you can find bierocks, take-n-bake pizza, heat & eat meals, breakfast burritos, jerky, eggs, honey, milk, dog treats and topicals, and refreshing italian sodas, Red Bull Spritzers, smoothies, teas, fruit n’ veggie juices, kombucha, lemonade, and fun boba drinks too.We are known for our wide array of drink flavors and combinations which makes our iced latte flights a fun way to try out new flavors.
We are planning construction of a drive thru. Until then we are offering online & call in orders and curbside service at the north side of our building.

This week’s side-by-side grocery store price comparison was done with putting together a plan for a Super Bowl watch party in mind.
So instead of pricing the basic essentials, I priced out some items for game day eats! I only got to three stores this week, pricing Aldi, Dillons and Walmart. I’ll do another Super Bowl edition next week to include more ‘football food’ related items and a look at Trader Joe’s.
Keep in mind that items featured is the store brand for each respective store, unless otherwise labeled. Prices can vary from store-to-store, especially for Dillons and Walmart, to a lesser extent Aldi. Store managers have the flexibility to adjust prices, lower or higher. Prices are good as of this writing and could change by the time you make that grocery run. Product size/weights shown are what is available and on the shelf at the time of review.
Here’s this week’s side-by-side comparison of grocery store prices, a snapshot if you will of Super Bowl shopping:
Takeaways from this week’s price review:
Aldi is the cheapest place to Super Bowl party food shop. For the 24 items reviewed, Aldi was $3.90 cheaper than Walmart and $7.31 cheaper than Dillons. Caveats: Aldi doesn’t carry Buffalo or wing sauce of any kind, so that affected overall price, but even if some were available for around $2, Aldi would still be the least expensive place to shop. Aldi only sells limes in a one pound bag, driving up their overall cartload price. The limes themselves are on the small side as well. How many limes you’ll need depends on the size of your party and what you’re serving. How much guacamole are you making? Aldi was the cheapest overall for meats, significantly so for sirloin steak (think garlic butter steak bites) and to a lesser extent the wings.
Dillons continues to be the most expensive place to grocery shop on a week-to-week basis even WITH the use of their loyalty card, Super Bowl or no. Check out the related article link, “Mainstream Grocery vs. Discount Grocery: Dillons (Kroger) vs. Aldi. There’s A LOT of red in their column (Pssst…. they inflate prices and discount ‘select’ items on that loyalty card use based on shopping behavior to make you think you got a few good deals). Don’t get me wrong, Dillons does put some good deals out there now and then, but in general, those deals only save you if that’s all you’re buying. Cart for cart, Dillons remains the most expensive place to grocery shop, even with the ‘deals.’
I was surprised to learn that neither Dillons (Kroger) or Walmart (Great Value) carry a store brand hot sauce.
TIP: You don’t need to buy groceries to get gas for your vehicle at a discount. Option 1: Having a membership at the Wholesale Club gives you a built in discount for gas, no purchase required. Price as of this writing at Costco is $2.70 per gallon for regular. Option 2: Don’t have or don’t want a membership to a Wholesale Club? Use the Upside app. As of this writing the average price at the pump for Dillons is $3.19 a gallon for regular. Figure in the average discount of 10 cents per gallon based on fuel points and you’re paying $3.09. Using the Upside app, gas is around $3.03 at a nearby Casey’s.
Veterans, if you haven’t done so already, check with the VA to see if you are eligible for the commissary benefit at McConnell AFB.
