Sedgwick County’s extreme drought status remains so with an unseasonably dry April.

Historically, April typically delivers 6 days of moisture to help kick off spring, but there have only been two days with any measurable amount of moisture so far this month for a total of less than a half inch.

It’s been a cool spring, which helps to alleviate the impact of the drought somewhat and there is some rain in the forecast starting Monday and projected through Friday of next week.  Boy, do we need it!

Avid gardeners are never deterred by conditions, so don’t forget, there are some plant specials going on.  Johnson’s Garden Centers are running their Fill-A-Flat sale, select annual plants for $17.99.  And Plant Hop Wichita ends April 30.

Happy gardening everybody!
