Always adding to my stash of lunch meats for the fridge or freezer, I picked up a package of Lunch Mate Deli Style Rotisserie Seasoned Chicken Breast lunch meat when doing some grocery shopping recently.
Lunch Mate is an Aldi brand and in addition to the Rotisserie Seasoned Chicken Breast produces a variety of lunch meats such as Honey Smoked Turkey Breast, Mesquite Smoked Turkey Breast, Black Forest Ham and Smoked Uncured Ham.
The chicken breast is lean and the rotisserie seasoning elevates the flavor profile.
I sampled the lunch meat straight out of the package, in a sandwich, in a wrap, and sliced up in a salad. The rotisserie seasonings elevate this chicken breast above ordinary chicken lunch meat, you get the notes of paprika, black pepper, garlic, onion and thyme. The chicken is lean, with no added preservatives or added nitrates (except those naturally occurring in sea salt and celery powder).
Costing me $4.39 for a 9 ounce package at the time of this writing, I’m giving Lunch Mate Deli Style Rotisserie Seasoned Chicken Breast 4 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars. It tastes every bit as good as the name brand lunch meats and is worthy of a repeat buy. Compare the price to Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Rotisserie Seasoned Chicken Breast Lunch Meat priced at $4.99 for a 9 ounce package at the mainstream grocery store. The Aldi product is a 60 cent savings over the name brand and looks, tastes the same. The entire line of Lunch Mate lunch meats is good in fact and worthy of repeat buys, all of them being just as good as the name brand and cheaper. There’s no sacrifice in taste or quality.
The beauty of lunch meat, it’s such an easy grab from the fridge to make a quick wrap.
