A crispy, cheesy party in the mouth
I bought these on a whim for Super Bowl Sunday, “What the heck!” I said, something new, something different in a chip for game day.
Lay’s has introduced these as “A multi-dimensional, one-of-a-kind potato bite with layers of delicious crispiness.”
Coming in two flavors, Three Cheese and Sour Cream & Onion, I picked up a bag of the three cheese flavored chips to try out. This is the first time I’ve seen them, the new line was launched in mid-January.
The three cheese features a tangy and cheesy blend of cheddar, Parmesan and gouda and they’re quite tasty! The blend of cheese is a nice party in your mouth and the bites are perfectly crisp. They’re kind of like Cheetos Cheese Puffs, but made with potato instead of corn. In comparison, the Lay’s Layers are cheesier and it’s a nicer crisp. If I had to choose between Lay’s Layers Three Cheese and Cheetos Cheese Puffs, I’m picking Lay’s without hesitation, it’s the better chip.
Costing me just $1.99 for a 4-3/4 ounce bag – a promotional price – this new product is a great new chip and it’s a repeat buy even when the promotional sale is over. I’m giving Lay’s Layers Three Cheese flavored chips 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars and I’m looking forward to trying the Sour Cream & Onion variety. I bought these things for the Super Bowl, but opened them up to do this review before lunch. I don’t think these are going to make it to kickoff… ‘jus say’n.
