Yes, they are….

So I acquired a bunch of coupons for free Dole Salad Kits, I’ve never had one before so I said to myself, “Self, might as well give this Salad Kit thing a try, it’s not going to cost anything.”

And so off to the store I went for a ‘ready made’ salad.

The kits are marketed to your sense of convenience, that “I don’t have time (a.k.a. too lazy?) to make a good salad” mindset.  Dole has done a good job playing to that, creating a nice variety of salad and flavor combinations.  From classic Caesar to Sesame Asian, Dole pretty much has variety in salad covered.

I went with the Southwest Salad.  From the package:  “A Zesty blend of Tex-Mex flavors, this salad combines Cheddar Cheese and savory tortilla strips with crunchy iceberg, romaine and Dole’s Taco Ranch Dressing.”

It was quite tasty!  The kit came in a 13 ounce bag and made two large salads.  It was easy to put together, as the bag plainly reads, “Just pull apart and enjoy.”

The average price for a kit is $4.29 at area grocery stores and while I could buy all those ingredients for around $10 and make far more salads, the convenient, time saving kits have merit.  Another reason to buy:  If you’re like me and just crave a salad every once in awhile….  Buy the kit.  It beats letting a half head of lettuce and some other veggies spoil in the fridge.

It’s not a lazy thing at all, it’s a repeat buy.  I’m giving the Dole Salad Kits 5 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars and I look forward to sampling the other varieties.
