Can you eat for a week on just $50?

Breaking it down by the day, that’s about $7.14 per day or $2.38 per meal.

It’s Day 4 dinner time!  Can you say cheeseburgers?  Yes, yes you can…..  Before making the patties, I put in some garlic powder, steak rub, a little Worcestershire Sauce, a bit of BBQ Sauce and mixed to incorporate.  I fried the burgers in a super hot cast iron skillet to get that nice crust on the outside of the meat.  I topped the burgers with American cheese, simply dressed them with ketchup and mustard and did the buns in some garlic butter and a bit of that steak rub.  DELICIOUS!   This meal only cost me about $2.25 to prepare.  TIP:  Don’t forget to buy lettuce, tomato and onion at the grocery store.    I got the hamburger for $2.99 a pound at Costco.

Meal totals for the day:

Breakfast:  $1.00Lunch:  $0.96

Dinner:  $2.25

Cumulative total for the Challenge:

Day 1:  $7.25 Day 2:  $6.90Day 3:  $6.55Day 4:  $4.21

Grand Total:  $24.91 so far and under budget!  My budget allowance was $28.56 after four days, I’m $3.65 below that cap! Holding off on the Ramen…..  for now….

$50 to eat for a week, are you up for the challenge?
