This mac-n-cheese goes toe-to-toe with the regular boxed varieties
My body doesn’t like gluten. Whenever I consume regular bread, pasta, cookies, crackers, and the like, my body complains.
Since being introduced to the gluten-free world by a girlfriend back in 2020 (shout out to Lori S), I’ve sampled and reviewed a number of gluten-free products in tinkering with my diet. It’s been an on-again, off-again adventure. Some foods I’ve really enjoyed with such products very similar in taste and texture to their wheat-based counterpart. Some foods I’ve tried really sucked, or were “eh” and not repeat buy worthy. A common problem with gluten-free options is the higher price tag which in many cases is cost-prohibitive in my book.
So in getting serious about going gluten-free for good and in documenting the Bachelor on the Cheap Gluten-Freee Challenge 2023, I promised to maintain an online diary of my daily menu, including new gluten-free products I sample, write-ups on GF products I’ve sampled in the past, as well as restaurant reviews and their GF offerings.
Here are the gluten-free declared products I’ve sampled and reviewed by category:
Chips – Gluten is a wheat thing, not a potato or corn thing. Most potato and corn-based snacks are free of wheat gluten and you’re being marketed when a bag of popcorn claims “Gluten-Free” on the package, of course it is, it’s corn-based! But there are cross-contamination concerns, especially in the mass production of snacks and the variety of them, and some snacks do have wheat by-products in the ingredients. Read labels carefully, especially those that don’t state “gluten-free.”
Crackers
Pastas

Coming Soon:
- Breads (they tend to be expensive, so I tend to skip eating bread of any kind vs. buying GF)
- Cakes
- Cookies
- Muffins
- Various other sweets
I’ve sampled GF cookies and cakes in the past, but for some reason, never did a review of any of them!
Check back for updates!
