Can you eat nothing but fast food value meals for a week on just $50?
That’s a budget of just $7.14 a day.
Are there enough restaurants out there offering value meals that will fit in the budget? Will there be enough variety? Will I stay full enough, no snacking required?
I say I can stay under budget and eat well to boot.
It’s Day 3 and time for dinner
I’m famished for the second time today and am second guessing the notion of trying to spend just $7.14 daily on fast food value meals for a week. I only had a cinnamon/raisin biscuit from Hardees for breakfast and a Wendy’s Garden Salad for lunch. For the second time today, I’m experiencing “I need a snack” trouble. Did I snack? Find out at the end of this challenge.
I had an Atlantic Cod Fish Sandwich from Dairy Queen for dinner.
It was delicious! The fish was perfectly prepared, a crispy fillet topped with fresh green leaf lettuce and tartar sauce, served on a toasted bun. You get the crunch from the fried fish, the tart from the sauce, that bite balanced with refreshing lettuce and all of it blanketed in that soft bun.
It’s a totally satisfying sandwich! Nicely done DQ! It’s a repeat buy!
The sandwich cost me $3.97, that pushed me 13 cents over the daily allotted $7.14 budget, but I had an overall surplus of 40 cents coming into today so I’m still in good shape. My cushion is now down to an extra 27 cents to spend heading into tomorrow. Don’t spend all of that in one place, right?
Meal total for the day:
Breakfast: $1.27
Lunch: $2.03
Dinner: $3.97
Cumulative total for the Challenge:
Day 1: $7.29
Day 2: $6.44
Day 3: $7.27
I went over budget by 15 cents on Day 1. I was was under budget by 55 cents on Day 2. I went over budget by 13 cents on Day 3.
Grand Total: $21.00 at the end of Day 3
The nice thing about this challenge – No dish washing required! Bonus!
And then there’s bonus #2: A growing surplus of napkins!
Bonus #3: The opportunity to rack up on condiment packets….. You knew that was coming, right? What bachelor does NOT have condiment packets in his fridge?
