On Monday, I decided to issue a small challenge to myself and anyone else wishing to join in.

Can you eat nothing but fast food value meals for a week on just $50?

That’s a budget of just $7.14 a day.

Are there enough restaurants out there offering value meals that will fit in the budget? Will there be enough variety? Will I stay full enough, no snacking required?

I say I can stay under budget and eat well to boot.

Here’s the first meal, Day 1, breakfast:

2 Taco Bell Breakfast Stackers

I recently did a food review of the $1 Taco Bell Stacker, seasoned meat and melted cheese stacked in a lightly grilled tortilla.  I liked it and the price is right, so to kick things off for this challenge I thought trying the breakfast version of the Stacker would be appropriate.

The breakfast version of the Stacker is fluffy scrambled eggs and melted cheese stacked up in that lightly grilled tortilla.  I got two of them, costing me $2.15, a price fitting nicely in my daily budget of $7.14.

How is the Taco Bell Breakfast Stacker you ask?

The Stacker makes for a really nice breakfast, it’s tasty and I’m full.  In fact, I probably could have gotten away with just one Stacker.  It was prepared well, the eggs are indeed fluffy and that melted nacho cheese gives things a pleasant little twang with each bite.  Nicely done Taco Bell!

Meal total for the day so far:

Breakfast:  $2.15

An excellent and DELICIOUS start to the first day of the challenge!

Cumulative total for the Challenge:

Day 1:  $2.15 (breakfast)

Grand Total:  $2.15 so far and right in line with the daily budget of $7.14!   Now, what to have for lunch and dinner……  I’ve got $4.99 left….

The nice thing about this challenge – No dish washing required!
